Adult Dog Classes

We aim to help you teach your dog obedience at the same time as helping them develop good manners with people and other dogs.

What classes include:

child and dog
children may train
their dog
  • Greeting people We will work with you to find out what is needed - if anything - to help your dog greet people nicely ... without jumping up or shying away. Then it's up to you! We will show you what you may need to do yourself, and will encourage you to tell others how to greet your dog, so they learn good manners.
  • Mixing with other dogs Classes will include times when we encourage dogs to interact safely, so they can learn good canine etiquette. And we also include times when you tell your dog not to interact with other dogs, so they can learn not to steal toys and to come away from other dogs when called.
  • Basic obedience We will show you you how to teach our dog several commands: sit, down, stand, come when called, heel, leave, and stay. When your dog has mastered the basics, you may want to go on and do more advanced commands.
  • Play time! We include play sessions - and will help you teach your dog to bring toys back and drop them. But play isn't just about obedience ... it's for fun as well. And we even have some weeks where we play group games (with an obedience taste to them as well) - like games involving your dog in a stay or a recall.
  • Families We are happy for families to attend and for children to take part in training your dog.
  • We hope you enjoy the classes as well as learn a lot. Please remember that the trainers at Four Paws are available to discuss any issues with which you would like additional one-to-one help.
